Friday Release Picks (8/31/19)

Updated: Feb 16, 2022

So this week’s video about last week’s releases was well-received so I’m doing it again for this week but in a more timely manner. These are the best releases that you have to listen to. Without further ado, I give you my #FridayReleasePicks:

  1. @thevoicetree — Apollonia — Criminally underrated. 90s synth dreams meets indie rock. Softly beautiful. Sounds like: the soundtrack to that indie movie you want to see.

  2. @danandshay & @justinbieber — 10,000 Hours music video — Beautiful tribute to the wives behind the musicians. Congrats to the new Mr. and Mrs. Bieber. Sounds like: being in the honeymoon stage of a marriage.

  3. @lisa_prank — Perfect Love Song — If you are currently wearing a babydoll dress and Dr. Martens, this will appeal to you. A 90s pop soundtrack. Sounds like: a 90s movie about an artsy girl who gets a makeover.

  4. @goodfknmorning — Basketball Breakups — That spoken singing rock n roll vibe. Greatly appreciate the notation of their sign in their Spotify bio. Sounds like: how being the girl who wears a short skirt and a long jacket feels.

  5. @thefantasticplastics — Malfunction — if you like bands like Duran Duran, you’ll like this one. Groovy, electronic 80s pop sound but with a punk touch. Sounds like: being hungry like the wolf.

Bonus mention: the acoustic version of @hoobastank’s “The Reason” because I grew up at precisely the right time for that song to warm my heart.

This list is created by listening to all the releases listed on Consequence. If you have an upcoming release that you’d like to be considered for a future list, please fill out the "New Artist Submission" form on our site with the above information as well as a link to listen.

Please note: submission does not guarantee inclusion.

All band descriptions and genres come from their own words on either Spotify, Bandcamp, Soundcloud, social media, or their website.
